Ephesians 3:20; Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine according to His power that is at work within us. 21; to Him be glory in the church and to Christ Jesus throughout all generations forever and ever. Amen
As part of Krum First United Methodist Church Outreach we as a church supply children currently enrolled in the Krum Independent School District; who have been approved for the free meal program for the next school year, and making timely and complete application for assistance with items on the school supply list for their appropriate grade. There are currently over 600 children in our small school district that have qualified for the free meal plan, in order to qualify their family must be below an income which makes buying school supplies very difficult if not impossible. This along with our Apple Seed after school mentoring program is our outreach to the community of Krum. We do not do this alone, Krum First Baptist, First United Bank of Krum, Walmart, and Braums have helped with supplies in the past. On Saturday, August the 4th Apple Back to School Ministry will once again meet the needs of students of the Krum Independent School District from Pre-school through 12th grade with backpacks and school supplies for the school year. Work and planning for this year’s ministry began in April with contacting Krum ISD and sending of Applications for the current year Apple Back to School Ministry. Yes, there are companies that we could have ordered kits of supplies from making our job considerably easier. But they would not have the necessary brands of crayons, markers, notebooks and special items that each grade requires. I have been asked by some why do we go to the extra effort and work, my answer is because we want to demonstrate to each child we serve just how special they are and how much those of us who act in the name of Jesus love them. Our reward is in the eyes of the children when they see their new supplies.
We were blessed by those who donated money and supplies in the past. I want to thank our church for those members who have come along side me to help with purchasing, putting together kits, and distribution, also for allowing us to store and assemble the kits in our very (emphasis on very) limited space.
Since 2011 Krum First United Methodist has taken on this huge task. I wish to thank Patty Jackson and all those that helped her last year. I will be asking for help again this year, please set aside some time in July for us to accomplish this mission. I pray that everyone with the same love I have for children and the determination that through education we will overcome the burden of generational poverty will step forward and receive the blessing that come from this mission.
May Krum First United Methodist Church continue to bless the needy children of Krum and through this ministry touch the lives of many with the message of God’s love.
